Built From the Ledger, Not the Lecture Hall
How from a jewelry shop to a first US eCommerce client, and a three-year backlog of unreconciled books grew into Datastub.
Accurate Books Are the Minimum. Not the Goal.
Accurate books are the minimum. A set of books only matters if you can read it, understand it, and make a real decision from it. That's the standard every engagement is held to - making sure you can look at your books and know your next move. That's the job we signed up for.
A US accounting partner built for operating businesses.
Datastub US LLC is headquartered in Virginia, serving small and mid-sized businesses across all 50 states. A 20+ team of QuickBooks and Xero experts, sales tax specialists, CPAs, and EAs supports 80+ clients across the US in 7 core industries, delivering bookkeeping, tax, advisory, CFO, and cleanup services.
The Call That Started Datastub
In 2019, a B2B eCommerce founder selling wireless repair parts called Nimesh. He'd been running for three years with no books to show for it, 30,000 SKUs across his inventory, and a business growing 150% a year. He wasn't looking for a generic accounting service. He was looking for someone who could clean up the past, keep up with the present, understand his business model, and be trusted with all of it.
He didn't have a platform in mind. The right answer wasn't obvious - most accounting platforms can't handle 30,000 SKUs and a high-velocity B2B operation cleanly. Nimesh evaluated more than 15 options before landing on QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, the only one that could handle the inventory depth and reporting needs without breaking down at scale.
The cleanup took a year - slower than it could have been, because the current month's books had to keep moving while three years of history was being reconstructed. By the time it was done, Datastub had its first client, three employees, and a model that's barely changed since: get the books right, keep them right, scale the team to match.
It Started With a Jewelry Shop
Nimesh's accounting career didn't start in 2019. It started in 2013, in a small town in Gujarat, India, behind the counter of his father's gold jewelry shop.
For six years, Nimesh ran the business with his father. That meant cash and bank reconciliations every day, gold jewelry inventory tracked by weight and by individual piece, GST returns, vendor payments to dozens of suppliers, artisan accounts, purchasing, and accounts receivable. It also meant standing at the counter and selling - because in a small business, the same person who closes the books also closes the sale.
Gold jewelry inventory is unusually demanding. Stock value moves with the spot price every day. Every piece has to be tracked by weight and by individual item - a single gold chain isn't interchangeable with another of the same weight. Margins are thin enough that miscounting one piece costs real money. By the time the wireless repair client called in 2019, three years of disorganized US books and 30,000 SKUs felt familiar - large, yes, but a known kind of large.
That's the conviction Datastub was built on. Complexity doesn't scare us. It's the work.
Built As A Firm From Day One
Nimesh holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration and an MBA specializing in Marketing. He earned the US CPA later, in 2024. The accounting framework - US tax law, sales tax, payroll, federal and state compliance - was learned in real time, on a real client's books, in 2019.
From the first day, Datastub was a firm. Not a freelance arrangement or a side hustle. The first employee was hired in June 2019, before the first client's cleanup was even halfway done. Two more followed in July and November the same year. The plan was always the same: a real firm, with a real team, and real process.
In 2022, Datastub US LLC was registered. In 2023, the Northern Virginia office opened. In January 2024, Vandana Mehta joined as a Senior Manager, bringing 15+ years of US accounting experience; in January 2026, she was promoted to VP of Accounting. Today, the team is 20+ strong.
“I started with books cleanup - taking messy books and making them clear enough that owners could make real decisions. What I loved wasn't just fixing the numbers. It was watching owners look at their financials and finally see a clear picture of their business. That's still what drives the work.”
